Community Groups Recycling Program
West Seattle Recycling has a Community Accounts Program which helps organizations raise money easily through recycling.
Here's how it works; Member bring recyclables and your group account is credited
Members or friends of your group bring material to the recycling center any time we are open (Mon. through Sat. 9 to 5:30.) Instead of receiving cash for your newspapers, aluminum cans and scrap, non-ferrous metals, or high grade office paper, the value of the material is credited to your group.
Your group gets 10% bonus when you reach $20 total
All individual donation information is held in account including date, amount and donor. When your group has accumulated $20 worth of donations, we mail out a check for the total including a 10% bonus. Checks are mailed out quarterly. Setting up an account is a breeze: all we need is a contact person: name, address and phone number and you're ready to go!
Group recycling programs make your donations easy to manage
This account system is convenient because each donor doesn't have to mess around holding small amounts of cash to give to the group treasurer. Individuals can receive a tax-deductible receipt for the donation. In addition to the 10% bonus, we frequently give bonus prices for aluminum cans and newspaper to all our regular customers. We also give bonus prices for large loads. We currently give the top price in town for newspaper! Please consult the Price List for a list of all items that we pay for and current prices. In addition, we accept a wide variety of material for no payment.
Recycling is a great way for groups to earn money
t is something that every member can do at their own convenience: no need to set up a special recycling "collection drive" on a designated weekend - you can come to us anytime. It is a great way for kids to help out too; they can learn about the double benefits of helping the environment and earning money at the same time! Start with your family's household recyclables - then ask your neighbors or relatives for theirs.
Currently we have about 25 active groups raising money through recycling
Active groups range from:
- sports clubs
- Cub and Boy Scout troops
- civic clubs
- church and school affiliated groups
- the West Seattle Food Bank and other charities
Our most active accounts earn as much as $100 per quarter! Recycling money can go a long way in financing trips, scholarships, uniforms, supplies, parties or other special purchases.
