Programs

West Seattle serves Vashon Island residents with a "mobile buy-back" recycling program once a month. On the second or third Saturday of each month*, from 9:30-2:00, we park our truck at the Thriftway/Bank of America parking lot at the main town center.

We pay cash for: aluminum cans and scrap, newspapers, office paper, copper and brass and other metals. We accept glass and mixed paper (magazines, junk mail, phone books) We do not accept steel, plastic or cardboard. We give a bonus price for crushed/flattened cans or for large quantities. Vashon schedule for 2006: there will be no recycling in December. 

2007 schedule (tentative): Jan. 20, Feb. 17, March 17, April 14, May 12, June 9, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 13, Nov. 10, no December.

* we always skip July due to the Strawberry Festival.
